Short Bio
Prof. Gian Carlo Di Renzo is currently a professor of Obstetrics, Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Gynecology Coordinator, Centre for Perinatal and Reproductive Medicine University of Perugia, Perugia Italy. Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, IM Sechenov First State University, Moscow, Russia. Professor, DO Ott Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of St Petersburg, Russia. Past General Secretary, FIGO. Editor in Chief, Journal of Maternal Fetal and Neonatal Medicine (UK). Editor in Chief, Maternal Fetal Medicine ( CMA, China). Former Professor and Chair at the University of Perugia (2004 – 2021 ), Director of the Reproductive and Perinatal Medicine Center (1996 ), former Director of the Midwifery School (2004 – 2016), University of Perugia, in addition to being the Director of the Permanent International and European School of Perinatal and Reproductive Medicine (PREIS) in Florence (2012 ). He is full Professor at the Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the I.M. Sechenov First State University of Moscow since 2019.
He was general Secretary of the Italian Society of Perinatal Medicine, President of the Italian Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Secretary-Treasurer of the European Association of Perinatal Medicine, President from 2000 to 2002, 2002-2008 Executive Director and Chairman of the Educational Committee, Vice President of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine (2007-2013) .
He is founding member of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine (1991), of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (1991), and of the International Academy of Perinatal Medicine (2005).
Since 2011 is Fellow ad eundem of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (London) (FRCOG) since 2012 is Honorary Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG) and from 2016 Hon Fellow of the Indian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ICOG). From 2012 to 2018 he served as Honorary Secretary General of FIGO ( London). He is now coordinating the FIGO educational platform Women’s Library (GLOWM 2019) launching a new international project on Welfare of Women. Since 2014 he is member of the Advisory and Scientific Boards of the Foundation March of Dimes (USA). Since 2017 he has been nominated as a member of the WHO “Steering Committee on Maternal and Perinatal Health”.
He is the Founder and President of the International Society on Cocoa and Chocolate in Medicine (ISCHOM, 2012) and Secretary of the New European Surgical Academy (NESA, 2010).
