SHORT BIOSKETCH
Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine, past Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and past Director of the Reproductive and Perinatal Medicine Research Center at the University of Perugia (2004-2022). Founder and Director of the Permanent International and European School of Perinatal and Reproductive Medicine (PREIS) in Florence (www.preischool.eu) (2012- ). Dr. Di Renzo is also full Professor at the Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the I.M. Sechenov First State University of Moscow (2019- ). Since 2022, he is Director and Publisher of the Alliance for Global Women’s Medicine (GLOWM, www.glowm.com) until 2024 the educational platform of FIGO, after being General Secretary of FIGO for two terms (2012-2018). He was Secretary general and now co-President of the New European Surgical Academy (NESA, www.nesacademy.org) since 2010. He holds multiple other positions including Founder Editor of the Journal of Maternal Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, corresponding Editor of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Hon Editor in Chief of the Chinese Journal (in English language) “Maternal Fetal-Medicine”. In 2024 he founded a new peer reviewed open access journal “Maternal and Children’s Health”. He was an Advisory Board Member for the March of Dimes Foundation based in New York (2012-2018). Further, he is honorary member of 34 different Scientific Societies among which a Fellow ad eundem of RCOG and an Honorary Fellow of American ACOG and of Indian ICOG. Prof. Di Renzo is an Honorary Professor and Doctor Honoris Causa in Medicine and Surgery at respectively 15 and 6 different Universities throughout Europe, Asia, South and North America. He is an Academic Member of the Romanian and Russian Academy of Sciences. Prof. Di Renzo has received nine international awards for his work in human reproduction and maternal-infant’s health, scientific research, and teaching. In 2023 he was recipient of the Accademia dei Lincei award for Gynecology and Medicine, given by the President of Italian Republic. In 2024 he has been awarded the “ Baiocco d’oro” ( golden coin) given by the City of Perugia for his achievements. In 2025 the Ministry of Health of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam awarded him the Medal for People’s Health for his work on improving maternal infant care. He is honorary citizen of Buenos Aires ( Argentina) , Cartagena ( Colombia) and Tindari-Furnari ( Sicily, Italy) . He has organized more than 1000 international congresses and courses, some of these are held regularly (Diabetes in Pregnancy: DIP, Birth, World Congress of Maternal Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, TWINS). His scientific production comprises over 1,600 papers of which more than 490 have been published in peer reviewed international journals (HI 71; i10 index 281) and more than 100 books. He has been an invited speaker in over 2,000 national and international congresses and meetings and in academic courses in over 125 countries.

Professore di ostetricia e ginecologia e medicina materno-fetale, gia’ direttore del Dipartimento di ostetricia e ginecologia e del Centro di ricerca in medicina riproduttiva e perinatale presso l’Università di Perugia (2004-2022). Fondatore e direttore della Scuola Internazionale ed Europea di medicina perinatale e riproduttiva (PREIS) a Firenze (www.preischool.eu) (2012-). È professore ordinario presso il Dipartimento di ostetricia, ginecologia e perinatologia della I.M. Sechenov First State University di Mosca (2019-) ed è consulente dell’unità PRB del NIH-NICHD, Washington DC, USA (2021-). Dal 2022, è direttore dell’Alleanza globale per la medicina della donna (Glowm, www.glowm.com) fino al 2024 piattaforma educazionale della FIGO, dopo essere stato segretario generale della Federazione per due termini (2012-2018). È stato segretario generale e ora copresidente della New European Surgical Academy (NESA, www.nesacademy.org) dal 2010. Ha molti altri incarichi, tra cui fondatore e direttore del Journal of Maternal Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, corresponding editor dell’American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Hon Editor del Journal cinese (in lingua inglese) “Maternal Fetal Medicine”. Nel 2024 ha lanciato una nuova rivista “Maternal and Children’s Health”. È stato membro del comitato consultivo della March of Dimes Foundation con sede a New York (2012-2018). Il Prof. Di Renzo ha ricevuto otto premi per il suo lavoro nella riproduzione umana e la salute, la ricerca scientifica e l’insegnamento della medicina materno-infantile. Nel 2023 ha ricevuto il premio dell’Accademia dei Lincei per la ginecologia e la medicina, assegnato dal Presidente della Repubblica italiana. Nel 2024 gli è stato assegnato il “Baiocco d’Oro” dalla città di Perugia in riconoscimento dei suoi successi professionali. Nel 2025 il Ministero della Salute della Repubblica Socialista del Vietnam gli ha conferito la Medaglia per la Salute del Popolo per il suo lavoro nel migliorare l’assistenza materno-infantile. È cittadino onorario di Buenos Aires (Argentina), Cartagena (Colombia) e Tindari-Furnari (Sicilia, Italia).
